Taiwan & Japan Relations and Industry Communication Deepen
During Taipei Game Show (TPGS), representatives from Taipei Computer Association (TCA) and Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) signed a memorandum in order to forge a partnership between the two great game shows in Asia, Taipei Game Show and Tokyo Game Show (TGS). The chairman Hideki Okamura explained that this is the first time in the 22 years of the history of CESA to sign an agreement with an overseas game show. There will sure be more collaborations in the days to come. In addition, the relations and communication of gaming industry between Japan and Taiwan will also take a giant leap
The organizer of TPGS held a press conference on January 26, 11:00 AM in Taipei (12:00 PM in Japan). The Executive Secretary of TCA and the Chairmen of CESA signed an agreement between TPGS and TGS during the conference. In the future, these two game shows will share and exchange resources and aim to engage in collaborative marketing activities. The final goal of this collaboration is to create a quality environment for gaming industry in Asia. The chairman of CESA, who visited TPGS for the very first time, said that there will be more collaborative projects and the two game shows will discuss about specific and detailed aspects of the agreement. In addition, in the past few years, Japanese companies have started to set up branch offices in Taiwan to localize marketing strategies and to acquire opinions from local gamers. These will tremendously improve game content and help companies to find their positions in the market. As a result, there will be more opportunities for Taiwan and Japan.
2018 Taipei Game Show kicked off from 25 to 29 of January at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. The venue was divided into 2 zones, B2B Zone and B2C Zone. There were up to 34 Japanese game developers, publishers and indie game teams joining the event, including Sony Interactive Entertainment, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Taiwan, SEGA GAMES, Wonder Planet, Square Enix, Cygames, ARC SYSTEM WORKS, DMM.com, and Cloud Creative Studio. APGS (Asia Pacific Game Summit) invited president of Gzbrain and a representative of UUUM, the most popular platform and an offline marketing company, to share their experiences. In the two-day event at B2B Zone, there were 29 countries and 2361 professional buyers, with Japanese being the largest group. TPGS is an annual event that provides a platform to facilitate communication between Japan and Taiwan. In terms of the total amount of transactions in IPs and the vibrant communication among player communities, it is evident that Taiwan plays a crucial role in Asia’s game market. There is no doubt that this agreement between Japan and Taiwan will facilitate a significant development in gaming industry in Asia.
