Let the graceful flute melody flow through the apocalyptic world- ARIE: Moonprayer will offer an experience of its full version at Taipei Game Show 2026
PhantomWorks, an indie game studio based in Taipei, has officially announced its participation in the Taipei Game Show (Jan 29- Feb 1, 2026), held at Hall 1 of the Nangang Exhibition Center. At their booth, they will present an early access experience of its Japanese anime-style adventure game ARIE: Moonprayer. The team also delves into sharing the game's world design and character stories.
ARIE: Moonprayer is set in an unknown pre-apocalyptic world where the moon is falling, causing counter tides. The oceans not only submerged the land but also obliterated civilization. The highest mountain range of humanity's former world, “Mountain Caelum,” became the last remaining refuge: “Cerul Island.”
Beyond the falling moons, harmful “moon dust” drifted down, shortening human lifespans to just three or four decades. Plunged into despair and fear, humanity ceased to gaze upon the crimson moon. Yet two individuals who climbed Mountain Caelum and gazed upon the moon unexpectedly gained the supernatural ability to use melody to send the departed back to the moon—a power known as “Ascension.” This gave rise to the faith of “Luna.”
Decades later, as the moon approaches Earth, the power of Ascension has been passed to the protagonist, Diallo. Yet humanity continues to dwindle, and the faith has become mere ritual. On the eve of Diallo preparing to pass on the Ascension ability, he is confronted by the sudden visit of the female protagonist, Raye, marking the beginning of their journey into the apocalypse.
Diqin Perform Gameplay
The fantastical instrument players wield, Diqin, interacts with ancient ruins to produce unexpected effects. Whether resonating with rocks, rotating structures, or rewinding time, it clears paths untrodden by those who came before.
Time and Weather System
The time and weather systems are deeply intertwined with exploration. As time passes, not only does the weather shift- causing tides to rise and fall during sunrise and sunset, respectively, and affecting exploration ranges- but the character's vitality also gradually diminishes.
Seamless World Exploration
Across the vast Cerul Island, players can seamlessly explore towering mountain ranges shaped by tides, freely discovering hidden wonders. Unprecedented materials await discovery, usable to rebuild the abandoned villages where your characters reside.
ARIE: Moonprayer will feature English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Japanese language options, with a planned Steam launch in Q1 2026. A free demo is now available for download on the Steam store page.
