Project Moreum Inc. Introduces Lone Chef at Taipei Game Show 2026
A Cooktroidvania Adventure Where Flavor, Battle, and Story Intertwine

Korean independent game studio Project Moreum Inc. is pleased to announce its participation in Taipei Game Show 2026. At the event, Project Moreum Inc. will present Lone Chef, a 2D pixel action adventure that reimagines the genre through an original concept the team calls “Cooktroidvania,” a fusion of cooking systems and Metroidvania style exploration.

Lone Chef is a fresh take on the 2D action adventure genre, combining cooking, combat, and exploration into a single, tightly connected experience.

Set in a ruined world on the brink of collapse, players follow the journey of a lone chef searching not just for survival, but for the “most delicious meal.” In this world, food is more than sustenance. It is power, memory, and connection.

Unlike traditional action games where combat is resolved solely through weapons and reflexes, Lone Chef introduces a structure where battles are deeply influenced by cooking. Players gather ingredients during exploration and transform them into dishes that directly affect combat performance, character growth, and narrative progression. Cooking is not a secondary system, but a core mechanic that defines how players fight, explore, and interact with the world.

Throughout the adventure, players collect a wide variety of ingredients shaped by their surroundings. Terrain, time, and weather dynamically influence which ingredients can be found and which enemies appear. A snowy forest at dawn may yield different materials than the same area during a rainy night, creating a living world where exploration, gathering, cooking, and combat are seamlessly linked.

Dishes prepared by the player serve many purposes. Some meals fuel combat by enhancing abilities, altering attack patterns, or granting powerful effects. Others strengthen bonds with companions, unlocking new dialogue, skills, and story routes. Cooking goes far beyond recovery items. It can recruit allies, unlock hidden paths, and even pacify powerful bosses through shared meals rather than violence.

As players progress, they will encounter companions with distinct personalities, motivations, and backstories. These characters are not passive followers. By sharing meals with them, players build meaningful relationships that influence both gameplay and narrative. Stronger bonds can change how characters react during key story moments.

The narrative of Lone Chef branches based on player choices, relationships, and cooking decisions. Who players choose to cook for, what meals they share, and how they resolve conflicts all shape the unfolding story. These choices lead to multiple possible endings, encouraging replayability and personal interpretation of the chef’s journey.

Exploration follows a Metroidvania inspired structure, where new cooking tools and abilities unlock access to previously unreachable areas. Progress is driven not by simple stat increases, but by expanding the player’s culinary repertoire. Learning new recipes and techniques opens new strategies in combat and exploration, reinforcing the game’s core philosophy that cooking is the key to advancement.

Visually, Lone Chef is brought to life through finely crafted pixel art that balances melancholy, warmth, and subtle humor. Each region is carefully designed to tell its own story through environments, enemy designs, and ingredient sources. The world feels hand made and intimate, inviting players to slow down, observe, and experiment.

At Taipei Game Show 2026, visitors to the Project Moreum booth will be able to play the latest demo build of Lone Chef. The demo showcases the game’s signature Cooktroidvania mechanics, dynamic environments, and relationship driven progression. Exclusive booth only giveaways and special promotional items will also be available, along with opportunities to meet the development team and learn more about the project.

With its strategic cooking system, immersive worldbuilding, and emotionally driven narrative, Lone Chef offers a unique experience where flavor, battle, and story are inseparably connected. Project Moreum looks forward to sharing this journey with players and media at Taipei Game Show 2026.
